310070 at Euston 06/09/86 31468 (OC) takes Southern Railway built and newly repainted Waterloo and City coach 78 back to London 27/10/86. 33028 (EH) at Reading 08/86 33111 (EH) with a Salisbury to Waterloo train. 08/09/86 47515 (OC) at Reading 08/09/86. The consist on this date was 3 4 wheels oil tanks and 1 coal hopper. 50033 (OC) at Reading 04/86. I remember taking this photo as this was the moment that passed the minor milestone of clearing 50's for sight. Even though I lived near Reading and this was an Old Oak loco, it had evaded me for ages. In later years I was told by an ex-Old Oak driver that this was because it was usually broken... 59001 (FY) at Reading 27/10/86 85009 (CE) with 86411 (WN) behind. Euston 06/09/86 The NRM's 2BIL 2090 at London Bridge on a Network Day 25/08/86 59004 (FY) & 50019 (LA) at Reading 20/08/86 47628 (OC) in GW150 livery at Oxford 20/08/86. 59002 (FY) approaches Reading 19/08/86 73119 (SL) being named Kentish Mercury at Cannon Street, Network Day 25/08/86 Class 455 5872 at Waterloo East 25/08/86 33208 (SL) & 33113 (EH) stabled at Waterloo 25/08/86 73119 (SL) at Cannon Street 25/08/86 A class 411 4CEP and NSE class 423 4CEP at Cannon Street 25/08/86 33008 (EH) at Cannon Street 25/08/86 97800 (SG) on display at Cannon Street 25/08/86. This was renumbered from 08600 for a while when taken into departmental use as the Slade Green depot shunter. This engine is now preserved. D5217 (25067) at Medstead & Four Marks on the Mid Hants Railway 05/86. This was during the period that steam locomotives were banned between Medstead and Alton, so the class 25 took over the haulage of trains for this section. 33111 (EH) with 4VEP 7701 in the backgraound at Waterloo 06/09/86. 87028 (WN) arrives at Euston 06/09/86 47276 (SF) heads east through Basingstoke 08/09/86 86411 (WN) & 85009 (CE) at Euston 06/09/86. 86411 ended its days as 86611 being scrapped in 02/05 at Crewe. Class 117 set L403 stands at Oxford 27/10/86 73128 (SL) brings a parcels train from Redhill into Reading 08/09/86 59001 passes west through Reading at 15.10 on 29/05/86. D5217 (25067) on the Mid Hants Railway at Alton, 05/86 45150(TO) arrives at Reading bringing an inter regional train in from the Midlands 20/08/86. This loco was withdrawn in 02/88 from Tinsley, being cut up at MC Metals during 12/91 59002 (FY) at Reading 19/08/86 37257 & 37236 (both CF) head through Reading towards the Berks and Hants line with a rake of 16 ton wagons 20/08/86. In 2009 37257 survives as 37668 at Carnforth, and 37236 as 37682 at Barrow Hill. The NRM's 4SUB 4732 at London Bridge on a Network Day shuttle to Cannon Street 25/08/86 45150 (TO) and an unidentified class 47 (probably 47559) at Reading 20/08/86. 59002 (FY) Reading 19/08/86 37257 & 37236 (both CF) head through Reading with a rake of 16 ton wagons. 20/08/86 45150 (TO) waits at Reading to work back north 20/08/86 47110 (KD) aworks a cement train towards London through Reading 17/04/86 50012 (LA) draws an inspection saloon into the east end of Reading 19/08/86 33008 (EH) works the VSOE through Reading 20/08/86 31402 (OC) looking well worn at Reading 20/08/86 87005 (WN) at Euston 16/04/86 73133 & 73103 (both SL) at Gatwick Airport 02/08/86. A 'jaffa' liveried 4CIG leads a clasmate past the site of Itchingfield Junction on the Mid Sussex line 04/86. 37255 (CF) passes Reading 09/04/86 56039 (BR) passing through Reading station 04/86. 56039 lasted in traffic until 08/99 at Immingham, being cut up at Thompsons in 03/04. 86247 (WN) at Euston 16/04/86 50032 (OC) at Reading 04/86 08946 (RG) does a spot of shunting at Reading station 04/86 31465 (OC) works empty newspaper vans back towards London 08/04/86

This engine was converted to 09102 08833 (SF) in mock Great Eastern livery at Liverpool Street on 19/02/87. This engine is still in service as 09101 37240 (CF) at Oxford 05/87. This locomitve is preserved at the Llangollen Railway. 47215 (BR) at Dagenham Dock 07/87 Preserved 4SUB 4732 & 319002 at an Ian Allan exhibition at Waterloo. 23/10/87 47644 (ED) at Reading 22/04/87 50007 (LA) and a buuble car at Oxford 07/87 50032 (OC) at Waterloo 19/02/87 58018 (TO) at Bescot 30/03/87 86404 (WN) at Bescot 30/03/87. 84422 (WN) at Euston 05/87 D335 at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. D9000 at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. A class 47 passes on the avoiding line in the background heading towards Reading. D335, D7018 & D1010 at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. I seem to remember that this was one of the Ian Allan Network Days. 47549 (OC) & 47500 (OC) at Reading 22/04/87. This was a morning Paddington - Oxford turn that often produced a pair of locos. 50014 (LA) and some vintage cars at Reading 22/04/87 47613 (OC) at Reading 05/87 08946 (RG) at Didcot 07/87. 08946 survived in traffic until 02/02, being cut up in 06/08. 50017 (LA) at Oxford 07/87. This locomotive was withdrawn in 09/91, and has been preserved. D9000 at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. I seem to remember that this was one of the Ian Allan Network Days. 87010 (WN) at Euston 13/04/87 No. 8 at Aberwystwyth 08/87 D1010 at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. I seem to remember that this was one of the Ian Allan Network Days. 31405 (BR) & 33040 (EH) at Didcot 07/87. 31405 survived in traffic until 01/99 and was scrapped in 03/00. 33040 was withdrawn from Stewarts Lane in 05/93 and cut up on site in 01/97. 47592 (CF) at Oxford 05/87 47191 (CD) at Oxford 05/87. This was a train of vans for Bicester MOD. 47191 was withdrawn about 1 month later, and finally cut up at Wigan Springs Branch in 09/93. 43125 at Didcot 07/87 - with thanks to s491 for identifying this. 73116 (SL) at Waterloo 19/02/87 No. 9 at Devils Bridge 08/87 33022 (EH) at Reading 07/87. This was working a parcels train from Redhill that used to arrive at Reading in the late afternoon. D335 & 59001 (FY) at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. I seem to remember that this was one of the Ian Allan Network Days. D7018 at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. I seem to remember that this was one of the Ian Allan Network Days. 47155 (BR) at Basingstoke 05/87. This loco subsequently became 47660, and still exists as 47815 45110 (TO) hauling 210001 north through Oxford. I later found out that this was the class 210 was being tranferred to Derby RTC for conversion/testing in the class 457 Networker development train. A shame as these were always great units to ride in, frequently working local trains from Reading along the Berks & Hants line. 45110 survived in traffic until the last month of class 45s in 07/88, being scrapped in 03/90. 31438 (IM) at Stratford taking a rake of newspaper vans back into London 07/87. Shortly after the this, we did the decent thing and bunked Stratford shed through the dodgy tunnel! Got thrown out, but not before we'd been around and seen everything! Also managed a cab ride along the Drain that day in the old Southern Railway stock - the fun a 16 year old could have in those days with a 1 day travelcard :-) 47308 (TI) at Readin 05/87 37699 (CF) at Didcot 05/87 An unusual combination of 3822 & 59001 (FY) at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87. View of Bescot TMD on 30/03/87 with 56093, 08700 & unidentified classes 08, 31, 47 & 56 visible. No. 9 at Devils Bridge 08/87 58042 (TO) at Oxford 05/87 47546 (IS) at Oxford 05/87 45139 (TI) at St. Pancras 13/04/87 08700 (BS) at Bescot TMD 30/03/87. This engine is now preserved at the ELR. 20042 (BS) passing Bescot station with a rake of 16 ton wagons 30/03/87 No. 9 at Devils Bridge 08/87 47288 (SF) at Reading 04/87 37072 (TE) at Reading 04/87. The working was the 10.22am Didcot - Chessington Speedlink Coal service. Not the greatest composition on this pics, but a classic 1980's line up of cars is on view... 45129 (TI) at St. Pancras 05/87
