08946 (RG) at Didcot 07/87. 08946 survived in traffic until 02/02, being cut up in 06/08.

31268 (SF) & 37116 (SF) at Waterloo on an Ian Allan Network Day 23/10/87. This seems quite a late date for the 37 to have retained its buffer skirts. 37116 is now preserved at Chinnor.

31405 (BR) & 33040 (EH) at Didcot 07/87. 31405 survived in traffic until 01/99 and was scrapped in 03/00. 33040 was withdrawn from Stewarts Lane in 05/93 and cut up on site in 01/97.

31438 (IM) at Stratford taking a rake of newspaper vans back into London 07/87. Shortly after the this, we did the decent thing and bunked Stratford shed through the dodgy tunnel! Got thrown out, but not before we'd been around and seen everything! Also managed a cab ride along the Drain that day in the old Southern Railway stock - the fun a 16 year old could have in those days with a 1 day travelcard :-)

33022 (EH) at Reading 07/87. This was working a parcels train from Redhill that used to arrive at Reading in the late afternoon.

37072 (TE) at Reading 04/87. The working was the 10.22am Didcot - Chessington Speedlink Coal service. Not the greatest composition on this pics, but a classic 1980's line up of cars is on view...

37175 (LA) at Plymouth 06/01/87. This locomotive had recently been reallocated from Scotland to the South West. In 2009 it resides back in Scotland, at the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway

An unusual combination of 3822 & 59001 (FY) at Didcot Railway Centre 23/10/87.

45110 (TO) hauling 210001 north through Oxford. I later found out that this was the class 210 was being tranferred to Derby RTC for conversion/testing in the class 457 Networker development train. A shame as these were always great units to ride in, frequently working local trains from Reading along the Berks & Hants line. 45110 survived in traffic until the last month of class 45s in 07/88, being scrapped in 03/90.

47191 (CD) at Oxford 05/87. This was a train of vans for Bicester MOD. 47191 was withdrawn about 1 month later, and finally cut up at Wigan Springs Branch in 09/93.
